I guess I distract to easily. Why can I not just start a project and finish it? Instead it has to linger in various states of work in progress land before I can finish it. I guess that's just what makes Tish, Tish.
This week, I managed to distract myself with one little word "scrappy". I had a few inquires if scrappy would work for the Fireburst Mystery Quilt. My answer, yes I do think it will. "Scrappy" just kept eating at the back of my brain until I did the only thing I could do. I went
I decided to make a 64" lap size version of the quilt, with Fabric 1 being scrappy blues, Fabric 2 being scrappy reds and Fabric 3 being scrappy whites.
My background will be this lovely gray and white polka dot fabric.
After participating in Melva's Quilters Through the Generation a few weeks ago, I decided it's time for my mother to start sewing again. Wasn't that nice of me? So on an outing this week, I surprised her by swinging by the fabric store and proudly announcing that she was going to pick out fabrics and make my mystery quilt. It took some coxing, but she was a good sport and played along. I had to laugh though. The fabrics she picked out are almost identical to the ones I used for my Magnolia Mystery Quilt.
I did manage to actually work on a project this week. I am happy to report the Star Crystal bock is now basted and has been stitched in the ditch.
Hopefully, between prom festivities, I will be able to put some thread to fabric in the form of free motion on this guild challenge project.

I pulled out a HEAP of cotton scraps, thinking I had ample time this weekend to sort them out for the Fireburst !!! Life happened, our estate agent called, a new person was coming this afternoon. So everything was packed away again.Love your scrappy selection, and your Mum, what joy to know she will be quilting along too. So that was my week in a rubbish heap.
Man, oh man, prom? I hope it goes smoothly and I look forward to seeing how you quilt the Starlight Crystals block! :)

Oh Tish, that Starlight quilt is gorgeous, and I've seen some of your quilting on your IG post. Fun that your mom played along at the quilt shop, and interesting that she almost matched your color choices. I'm itching to get back to my UFOs and get fabric pulled for the QALs, but must stay on task for a little bit longer!
I'm so glad you posted this! I wasn't going to do it, since I've just bought fabric for another project, but knowing I can use scraps, I'm in! Red/white/blue is a common theme around here, so I'll have plenty of scraps! Thank you!

No UFOs were busted for me this week, but today I hauled most of them out so they could be better organized and stored in the studio. That prompted me to cut a backing for one and start adding borders to another. So that's progress!

I'm further behind on my blog reading than I thought. Thanks for featuring my finally finished UFO elephant quilt this week. I am so glad it's done and mailed and received. If I had left it in my house any longer I would have taken it apart and tried resewing that binding on trying to make it flatter as it seems to have gone a bit wavy. Not sure if it was from winding the flannel backing too tight on the longarm or pulling the faux flange binding while sewing it on that made it a bit wavy. The borders were sewn on correctly and square. It drove me nuts and I guess still does. But the mommy doesn't sew so won't catch on that the quilt edge isn't flat. So here's hoping she thinks the wavy edge is just wonderful and unique. All I know is that little one just loves it.
