So much has happened in our household, since this time last year. We have added a furry addition to our small furry family. Caronline Kitty Cat, Princess of the Fuzzy Butts. Caroline came to live with us, when a co-worker of my husband, Dave The Quilt Engineer, told him about a small single chocolate colored kitten born into a recent litter at her house. Being a lover of all things chocolate, Mr. Stemple, felt he had to bring her home. I won't lie, with our zoo of two pibbles (or pit bulls), a elder boston terrier mix, and Oliver the cat, I wasn't over the moon with joy at first. But how could you deny such a cute face as this one.
From her first days with us, Caroline was taught the ropes to becoming a quilty kitty.
David made sure that she understood what a cutting space was and how her job was to inspect fabrics and oversee the making of quilting projects.
Though we had to have a talk about sewing machine space and that bouncing needles, though fun to watch, can hurt you. They are not food.
I'd like to say everyone in our house loved this cute ball of chocolate fluff right from the beginning, but not everyone was happy about the addition of a second quiltly kitty. Oliver felt this house only had room for one.
But I'm happy to report he has since changed his mind and doesn't mind sharing his space with his kid sister.
Caroline has been helpful with so many things.
When you need to sort your stash, she is more than happy to hold down the fabric totes to make sure they do not run off.
She mastered the fine art of warming your sewing chair when you stand up to press a seam and you are only gone for 20 seconds. She knew how to make it look like she had been sleeping there for hours.
She is very helpful when you need to pick out a quilting book.
Or you are trying to find that perfect project.
She's not afraid to get involved in the harder quilting processes, like basting quilts.
Though her out of the box thinking can be cute, sometimes you just have to explain to her why it doesn't work.
She also enjoys inspecting the back of your quilting to make sure you do not skip stitches or end up with an unfortunate birds nest of thread.
And when a box comes in the mail that looks a bit shady, she's more than willing to check it out to make sure it's safe.
But the most helpful quilty kitty thing she does, is simply enjoy her quilty basket and keep me company while I sew.
One thing is for certain, if there is a quilt laying around, Miss Caroline is going to enjoy it and it's one of the reasons we quilt.
I hope you have enjoyed meeting the youngest member of our family. She continues to make us smile and melt our heart everyday. I expect even greater things from this pretty girl in the future. Do you have a pet that loves quilts? Do you love looking at cute pets? Make sure you hop over to Lily Pad Quilting and check out her yearly pets on quilts linky party! So much fun in one place!

Super cute post. I'm proud of you and your husband for providing a loving home to so many pets. Bless you. The photo of Caroline with the Aurifil threads make me think that AuriCat would be a good name for a cat (maybe for my next cat).

You're lucky to have such a cute helper! Her color is so unusual (for me anyway) and she looks so elegant and exotic against the background of quilts))
Caroline Kitty Cat is precious and I can see she's going to earn her keep! XO
Aww, I love how she seems to always be so close at hand. Helping is always relative, though. ;)
What a sweet little helper. :) Thanks for sharing the photos.
I think the kitties have more fun in your sewing room than you do!

You had me laughing out loud. Thank you for this day brightening post and the adorable pictures =)
What a fantastic helper! And super cute too.
Hilarious Tish!
One of these days in the near future I will get to meet this princess of yours! But I think I will have to meet Oliver first and give him lots of snuggles. I mean, it would be rude not to right? Funny how cats do so many similar things in our quilting lives. I love the shot of her checking your bobbin tension, and also that one with Oliver going, "MOM!!!??!!" is my all-time favourite.
Oh she had me cracking up!! What a playful little kitty!!
Tish, I think Miss Caroline is delightful! She as made herself right at home. Love the photo of her and Oliver...the look on Oliver's face is priceless!
How fun she is!!! And chocolate - as if God knew the perfect combination would be a real cat made of chocolate!!! My favorite photo is of Oliver's face when he sees his new sister - too funny!!!! And the one where she is "helping" baste the quilt... Gotta get all those wrinkles out you know! And the one.... Well, I loved them all :*)
Caroline is a lovely girl.
I think a chocolate kitty would be hard to pass up! I'm so glad Caroline has shown you what a sweet addition she is to your group. They are all sweet!
Oh, my -- I don't know how you get anything done at all with those adorable furbabies around to distract you! I'm glad my 115 lb Rottweilers don't jump up on the sewing cabinet while I'm quilting. That would scare the poo out of me and I'd sew over my own finger for sure! :-)
She is very sweet!
What a cute (and helpful) kitty!
Caroline is adorable! And she is a chocolate kitty! I love the pic on the sewing machine! Congrats on the newest addition!
Gorgeous!
Caroline is a real sweetheart. I remember the days of having two kittens in the house. Fun and frustrating at the same time. I hope she quilts with you for many years.
She is adorable! no wonder you couldn't resist!
What a cute little moggy! Making quilts for cats is a good as reason as any!
As you know I live in a pet free zone but I loved this post . Sweet Caroline is a wee pet . I'm s little concerned about her interaction with the sewing machine needle . Potential for ouch
Hi Tish, love the kitten. We have quite a few cats over here, too. They love to be part of the action. Also, I wanted you to know that I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. Head on over to my website thezenquilter.com to see the rules, etc. You don't have to participate, but I really enjoy your blog and wanted to spread the love around! Thanks for sharing.
She is such an awesome color! What a great help at such a young age. A sewing companion for many years.
Awwww.... She is absolutely adorable!!
Oh my goodness, Miss Caroline is gorgeous, what a beautiful color she is. I love the pictures watching her turn from tiny kitten to beautiful cat.
Maybe this could be the start of a wonderful book, on cats, quilting and all other adventures together.
It was lovely to meet Miss Caroline. She is very sweet.
Caroline is a sweetheart. I love her chocolate colour. So is Oliver (in case he feels left out).
Princess Caroline got even prettier as she grew. And it's so nice that she and Oliver are now friends. I enjoyed seeing all your wonderful photos Tish!
She is such a cutey pie. Hugs, Susie x
