UFO Busting #104

Happy Saturday! And yes it is Saturday, I checked.  The numbers in our state have came in way below what anyone could have hoped for and it looks like this quarantine-cation is about to end on Monday and life will hopefully start returning to normalish.  With that, though, comes less time at home and less time for sewing.  Over the past few weeks, I've got my sewing spaces cleaned, projects organized and even saw some to a closer finish.

This week, I finished quilting the Mosaic Mystery Quilt.  As soon as I took this picture, I noticed one curve I didn't quilt.

After I finish that, I just need to attach the binding and get a photo shoot completed.  That feels amazing.

This week also saw a project that I've been meaning to work on for months now.  With dogs, Maggie and Becker having moved on to that geriatric stage of life, we find ourselves having to use pee pads quite regularly...and that can get pricey.  So I started constructing my own that I can wash and reuse and it's working great.

I sandwich together a cheap fleece blanket (as the bottom), a shower curtain folded in half and a bed sheet (as the top) (I can get two pads from one twin flat sheet).  The result is a pad that is around 35"x 50".  These are larger than anything I can get at the store and gives Becker plenty of area to do what he needs to do.  It's so sad when our little fur friends reach this stage.  But even in their golden years they need love and understanding not scolding.

With Mosaic basically finished, I jumped right into my next quilting project.  This time a UFO from last year.  It is my project from the guild's flying geese challenge.

I expect this one to be a quick finish and quilting all those lines is just satisfying.  A great transition from quilting back to working.  I hope this week to also get back into goal setting.  I really dropped the ball over the past few weeks with keeping up to weekly lists and I want to get back into that habbit.  Roseanne and Sue I promise to do better!

Now let's see what you were up to last week.  First up we have Kathleen at Kathleen McMusing and a baby quilt finish.

This little quilt came into existence when Kathleen needed a quilt to practice her Pro Stitching on.  She quilted the most darling little motifs into those yellow squares.  Make sure you congratulate her on this finish and you can read more about a neat little pattern book, that looks like you only need three yards of fabric to make the quilts.  Kathleen has the goods on that.

Next up we have Carol over at Quilt Schmilt  and her Robbie finish.

Carol let loose and allowed herself to have a whole lot of fun quilting this one and it shows.  Ruler work, free motion and a little bit of ditch stitching brings this happy robot to life.  Make sure you click on over to give her a round of applause for this finish.

Now it's your turn.  Link up below and show us what you'be been up to this week.

Now I will leave you with two things I loved this week.  First up, most of the drive through eateries have scaled back their menus during this crazy time and one thing missing was the beloved frappe.  Sometimes you need that sweet treat to just get you through.  So I took to Pinterest to satisfy my craving.

Oh, yes, that did hit the spot!

Next up was happy mail that was a complete surprise!

I received this adorable little draw string bag and a note from Anja over at Anja Quilts!  I was so excited!  This was an unexpected little pick me up.  She's the best!  It also makes me realize how much I miss my online quilting friends.  Back with life was a simpler, we use to text chat, video chat and email all the time.  Maybe it's time to figure out how to better reconnect again.  What's your thoughts?

The quilting looks good on Mosaic Mystery, I can't see the missed curve anyway but then I'm not one to stare at a persons quilt then point out mistakes! Can't wait to see what the flying geese quilt quilting looks like finished. Have a good going back to work but I hope you can still find time for stitching!

the coffee drink looks amazing - I do miss stopping places for something like that now and then when out. which state are you in that the numbers are dropping? ours keeps going down a little then a tiny increase, then down again - opening more things on Monday but I'm going to be cautious and stay home for awhile longer and just continue as we have been doing.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Mosaic Mystery finish; it's so close now! Aww, you are such a caring mom to your fur babies. Having pads that you can make, wash, and swap out is such a great idea. I hope that things continue to go well in WV and that you stay safe and healthy as things reopen.

Hi Tish! I just LOVE and adore you. Making pee pads for your fur babies is just the bomb. I am certain that they felt mortified having an accident anywhere in the house, just as any aging fellow would. This just makes my heart sing and brings a happy tear to my eyes. {{Hugs}} Yay for getting Mosaic quilted. I didn't notice the missing quilting on a curve and I'll bet no one but you would. Aww, please don't feel bad over missing a to-do list! Good grief - if that's the only thing you've missed say Amen. So, are you quilting on each side of those marked lines? I love the way that pattern looks and the nice crisp results you receive. LOVE! Anja is a good egg - what a nice, lovely surprise. Take care and stay safe. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Tish, Lovely post to read. You have been moving along your UFO's quite nicely. I love how you are taking care of your aged fur buddies. We have been there several times and I find that's when they really do need the extra TLC. Lovely mail from special people for sure. Happy Stitching to you!

I'm sorry your dogs are having trouble, Tish. So hard to watch them get older but your DIY pads sound like a great solution. I'm glad you still have those furbabies with you to love on! Your quilting project looks like fun, too -- did you draw all of those blue lines with the washout marker, or is that a fabric print? The lines are so perfectly straight and evenly spaced that it's hard to tell! Happy quilting!

Congratulations on your finish! And, thank you, thank you for the feature! I am so pleased when I have things to link up! I am now obsessed with the coffee Wendy posted, but only thinking about and yours frappe is getting me too! I am on an island, not many services although tonight I finally get to pick up food that someone else has made...hooray. Oh, and the poor poor doggies. I am not good when animals start doing this, but my dog is 12, so I guess we need to start thinking about (and he has Cushing's which can lead to some kidney problems). Hoping there is some space still for your sewing as we creep back into normal.

Glad to hear your state is faring well. Good luck with the "re-opening." We continue to register more cases daily and sadly more deaths. I'm glad you enjoyed the bag. Yes, we do need to get back to regular life.

Your machine quilting looks perfectly gorgeous!

IT is starting to feel good thinking about life getting back to normal, although I am certain my summer will be nothing but normal. I really don't think we will complain much about being able to go shopping, eat out, etc... I also don't think we will take for granted being with people and those we love.

Thanks for the linky party!
