UFO Busting #5

Five weeks strong and I'm happy to report I am still over here plugging away at UFO's.  Are you?  The temptations are strong, but I'm happily holding my own with encouragement from all of you.  As you can see in the picture above, I'm still quilting along on David's quilt for his friend.  Hopefully, it will be all finished soon and headed to its new home.

The more I quilt this woodgrain design the more I love the texture it gives the quilt.  And the best part?  Zero marking!  I love that!  So for  me, back to the quilting, "nose down, a$$ up" to quote my good friend Sandra.  We sew like our beloved pibbles in play mode.

Speaking of Sandra, she had a UFO finish to celebrate last week.  If you missed it, please check it out.  It will leave your head spinning (in a good way), with the awesome movement she created with her Wayward Transparency Quilt and spiral quilting.  She calls the quilt Flow, but I secretly call it Birds of a Feather; Tish and Sandra Flock Together.  Check out her post here.

Now it's your turn.  Has your week been productive or are you hiding like a dog with it's tail between it's legs whimpering.  Maybe you took off like my boy Newton, the pit bull, chasing after some squirrel that has consumed all your attention, unable to hear those WIP and UFO's yelling, "Come back here now!"  What ever the case link up and wag your tail.  Be happy in whatever it is your doing.  And don't forget to grab my button, so that you can show people, we are teaching old dogs new tricks.

**Note:  This party isn't just for UFO finishes.  Even if your post only mentions that you sewed two seams on a WIP or UFO, I consider that a good post.  You might be distracted by a new project, but those two seams put you two seams closer on a project than you were the day before.  Please feel free to link up even if you do not have a finish.  It's even a place to ask for help on a project you might be stuck on.  I want this to be about community not just finishes.  I want us all to encourage each other toward our finishes and celebrate together when one of us finally achieves it.

LOVING that woodgrain quilting motif! I'm going to have to try that one of these days. So I am curious, on your UFO linky, do you want us showing completed UFO's? or at least progress made on one?

That woodgrain is just awesome.

I don't have a finish yet this year, but I'm definitely making progress! I need to figure out the woodgrain pattern, it's so cool. I wish we got enough snow here to take "quilts on snow" pictures!

As an English teacher this post gets top marks for cohesiveness. ;-) I love the dog theme that flows easily through the entire post! Okay, shake that off like a dog after a swim...ha...I'm no longer that English teacher, hard to shed that skin sometimes. Thank you for featuring Flow! I actually quite like your idea for the name though too! We did collaborate yet again, unintended collaboration, yet again... Love your woodgrain quilting, man you are rocking the FMQ and the UFO world my friend. :-)

I am happy to say that I am still plugging away on the UFOs too. And even better, I'm resisting the urge to start any new quilt-alongs. (I removed my first comment because I wasn't paying attention and didn't have a finish to report.)

I love your woodgrain. Great job!

I just watched Angela Walters' new video on how to fix three common problems when quilting Woodgrain. That and your awesome quilt is making me want to use this motif again soon! You're right that the texture is soooo dreamy.

I had a good, busy week, working on a UFO, a couple of squirrels, and some RSC18 pieces. Alas, a major part of the boat broke under the floor in my studio, so I fear I'll be displaced for a while by burly guys working on the hull :(

I’ve been keeping my nose to the grind, too! It’s a good feeling, isn’t it!

Tish, your woodgrain looks fantastic! That is a motif I want my muscles to learn to donicely. Luckily I had a UFO binding to do up this week, so I did get a nice one completely finished, but I've been sidetracked by a gift project, which did come from the scrap bins, but was brand new in conception and all. I have another newbie to throw through the longarm on Monday morning (super fast minimal quilting), and then I will load up the next UFO. That one is going to be the rest of the month in getting quilted, I'm sure. I have my heart set on some serious custom work for it. . . ::sigh::
