WIP-Works I've Procrastinated Wednesday

So I started to have a mini melt down on myself this evening, but managed to gain my mental composer.  In the past two weeks there has been a lot of running around, which has not left much free time for quilting.  Tonight was not much different.  Somehow my daughter talked me into taking her to the movies with a friend.

As my work day was winding up, I started thinking about all my projects that are missing my attention.  There's the six mini quilts that I need to finish for Christmas.  Catching up on the Midnight Mystery Quilt and Gypsy Queen Quilt, and the Aurifil Minis.  Aurifil minis??  The one and only goal I set for myself this year was to make and finish each one before the end of the year.  I'm now three behind...oops.  Oh, and lets not forget I may need to make a Christmas Mayhem block.  Somehow I managed to tell myself to stop stressing and start sewing.

So before we rushed off to me Jen's "not boyfriend," I managed to get cracking on a few things.  First off the Midnight Mystery Quilt from Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs.  I've been seeing everyone's posts to the Facebook page and I was dying to see how my two color ways would look pieced together.  I managed to get one of each done.

Yes!  It feels good to see that star come completely together.  Both of the quilts have gray and white in them, but I love how changing the color placement gives each a slightly different look.

Now that I had a clear vision where those quilts are going, I jumped back into the Gypsy Queen Quilt.  I had skipped three weeks worth of blocks because...well because they confused me.  They where wonky blocks and I wasn't seeing how they tied in to the project.  I broke the first rule of Mystery Quilt Club; sew blindly and trust completely (I just made that up).  Cora at Cora's Quilts released the setting information the week of Thanksgiving and everything made perfect sense.  So of course I couldn't wait to catch back up.

Really mystery quilts are like mystery novels.  When it has many twist and turns that keep you guessing, it's like a great plot you can't get enough of.  And when you get to the end you say, holy crap I didn't see that coming!  Best feeling ever.  Makes every stitch sewed worth it.

And last but not least, the Aurifil minis.  I made it from January to August before I managed to fall behind.  I am bound and determined to finish these.  Step one...print out the instructions.

Ok, that's as far as I got on this one, but the good news they are smaller projects so maybe I stand a chance.

Are you starting to feel the rush of another year almost over?  That, I bit off more than I can chew feeling is just nagging at me beneath the surface.  I shall not cave...I'm going to go down swinging until the clock hits December 31st 11:59pm.  Who's with me??

Today I'm linking up with Let's Bee Social and WIP Wednesday.

I love your Midnight mystery blocks! I need to do mine this weekend!

I am really intrigued by the Gypsy Queen quilt! I might have to start that one and catch up. :)

I have Nov and Dec to catch up on yet for Cheryl...but I can't do those until the borders on Dayna's quilt are ON. You are making some terrific progress on all these, and you wrote up that huge tutorial, and I hope Jen is doing well...then there's your day job...lots on your plate!! Love the 'not-boyfriend' ha, Dayna was like that for a few months with Tyler, with whom she's been going out now for over 2 years!
