UFO Busting #71

Welcome back for another addition of UFO Busting!  Sadly I didn't finish cutting my fabrics for the Mosaic Mystery Quilt, but I did make more progress on a quilt started this year that I'm determined not to let become an official UFO, the Daisy Chain Mystery Quilt.

All of the blocks are pieced.  Wooo Whoooo!  I just need to make the rows come together and decide if the quilt will have borders.  It's all bubble gum and fun with the colors of this quilt.

I'm hoping to stay locked in the house all weekend and have my projects all lined up.  First up is a secret project for Island Batik.  The binding must go on and I hope to have it in the mail first thing Monday morning.

Its been so much fun working with their Freedom fabrics over the past couple of months and I can't wait to show you this quilt.

I also thought it would be fun to do a fabric pull and start using the Spider Web dye sent to me by Accuquilt to use in the September Island Batik Challenge.  If I'm honest, this dye scares me.  I love the block it makes but, left to my own doing, I probably would have been too chicken to try it.   This fabric pull will allow me to practice before I dive in with the real fabrics.

I even found time this week to dig into the UFO piles.  This little gem of a baby quilt, has been basted and waiting for about a year now.  So I think it's high time it receives some threaded bling and maybe even a new home.  I'm just having trouble deciding on a custom quilt job or an over all quilting.  What do you think?

What I do think is we had some great link ups last week.  First up we have Emily from The Darling Dogwood and her beehive finish of a Waddle of Penguins.

Emily asked her fellow hive mates to create one of Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts penguin blocks for her.  Once the birds started coming in they just didn't stop!  Visit Emily and read about how this quilt came together...I know it gives me happy feet :)

Also celebrating a finish and preventing a good quilt from becoming a UFO is Anja at Anja Quilts and her Chain Linx Table Runner.

Anja pattern tested this great little pattern for Karen at Sugar Free Quilts.  One of the hardest parts of quilting is deciding how to quilt something.  She broke those chains that can hold you by choosing a boxy stipple that mimics the pattern perfectly!  Make sure you hop over and congratulate Anja and Emily on their finishes.

Now it's your turn.  Link up and show us what you've been into the last week.  We need motivation, encouragement and probably evening a good old fashion distraction!

Can't wait to see your IB quilt(s). That little UFO, I'd do an all-over since the patterns in the fabrics keep your eye moving. However, you do some boss quilting, so I could see having fun with that too! (Am I helping?) As for me and UFOs, I've not been getting any done :-(. Just two at the long armer, so I'm waiting and waiting.

Like you I still haven't cut out the Mosaic Mystery fabric. It looks like you are getting lots done though. Me too but not very sharable.

Thanks for the shout out. You're making progress. I agree...would never choose the spider web but am intrigued by it. Good luck with your project.

Bubble Gum and Fun would be the perfect name for that quilt. It's looking good! Custom quilting would get lost in that baby quilt with all those busy fabrics. I would keep it simple. There sure are a lot of crazy talented quilters out there!
