Passion Flowers Fat Quarter Fun

A few months ago, while part of the 2018 Aurifil Artisan team, I was offered the chance to play with fat quarters from Anna Maria Horner's Passion Flowers line of fabric.  Oh my yummy goodness!

Three mouth watering fabrics and a coordinating spool of Aurifil Dark Olive 50wt thread showed up in my mail box.  I was bursting at the seams to cut into them, but I had to decide what to create first.

I have to admit Cartwheels in Jump had me jumping up and down and scratching my head.  I loved all those colorful flower petals but wasn't quite sure what to do with them.  To fussy cut or not was the question?

In the end, I decided to modify my Star Blossom quilt block, super size it and create a small wall hanging...non fussy cutting.  I absolutely love the results!

With the help of Aurifil #4173 Dark Olive, #1158 Medium Grey, #2423 Baby Pink and #2024 White I was able to crate a fun custom quilted piece for summer.

A huge thanks to Aurifil Thread, Free Spirit Fabrics and Anna Maria Horner for the chance to play with such beautiful fabrics!

The big flower piece would have had me stumped and I would probably have just used it for a backing! But no you put on your creative hat and went to work-and successfully I say!!

This is so cool! I love what you did with the flower print, which would've had me a bit stumped. I love that dark olive thread color -- I'm putting it on my list to order. Great finish, Tish!

This looks great, I love the bigger pieces they show off the larger prints.

No matter how many star blossom quilts you make, I love them all

So, so pretty! The big Cartwheel spokes look fab in the corners of this block. Large scale prints are hard to work into patchwork, and you did a great job. Love that olive thread, too!

This is so wonderfully Tish! I love how you used the petal fabric in the corners, cut but still large enough to see the print. It's bee-you-tee-full!!!

I love what you did with that fabric - it is gorgeous and I too would have been stumped. I love that quilting too, so many designs for me to think as I expand my skills on my new machine.

Love it! The pink center is my favorite part. Plus the quilting outlineing the star shape. What size is it?

I just love the big flower fabric and the way you cut it up and put in sneak peeks in the stars is just awesome!
