UFO Busting #43

We officially made it the first week of the New Year!  Are we still energized and feeling motivated for the next 51 weeks?  I know I am.  I've spent the week cleaning, reorganizing and reclaiming my house after a holiday visitor left.  Things are returning to normal and it's time to get back to some serious work.

I've decided to join Gail at Quilting Gail in her PhD program for 2019 and really commit to finishing some older projects...and all the new ones I start.

I'll be sharing a post next week about the projects I intend to tackle this year and look forward to monthly updates on my progress.  I hope you will consider joining along this year and knocking out some old projects while completing some new ones.

Speaking of new projects, I started tackling an older quilt top and two of the quilt alongs I'm participating in this year.

First up is the January block in Pat Sloan's Out of this World monthly QAL, The Space Shuttle.  I'm using fat quarters from Pat's quilt kit and fabrics from my stash; a little new and old stuff going on here.  I've went with a solid pale blue background...a bold step for me.

Next up is the first block in Pat Sloan's weekly A Flower Bouquet QAL, Seed Catalogs.  Quilt is being created with a fat quarter bundle from my stash and stash fabrics.  Using up what I already have feels amazing!

Next up is a quilt that I haven't work on in a while, Dog Gone Cute-large size.  This quilt is being made using fat quarters I picked up while shopping at the first Julie at Pink Doxies quilt retreat.  It's a memory quilt of the trip.  I need a total of 12 puppies and this little gal is number 6.  I'm hopeful, that a few more from her pack will be made this weekend.

We also kicked off the Fireworks display of Fireburst Quilts on the 1st.  If you haven't had a chance to see all the amazing quilts created make sure you make some time to check them out here.

Well, that's enough about me, let's see what you were up to last week.  Anja at Anja Quilts finished up a quilt top that has been hanging around her sewing space for a while, waiting to come into season.

Finally, the time came and the leaves fell where they may to be turned into the Freefall Quilt by Sandra at mmm!quilts.  Anja has quilting plans and I think we will see a finish in no time at all.

Next up is a quilt that caught my eye immediately; it is Sandy at Sew This is My Blog and her Gemini Quilt.

Ah, the zodiac twins.  Loving a Gemini is hard.  They love you passionately one minute and resent you with the same passion the next.  You just can't win.  Loving the Gemini Quilt is easy!  It's gorgeous!!!  Look at all those fabulous batiks!  Make sure you hop over and read about the making of this end of the year surprise finish.

Next up we have Louise at Quilt Odyssey and her Caged Samurai Quilt.  I love a quilt with a great story and let me tell you, this warrior had a lot to say to her and took his time talking.  It is 100% worth the read.  Then you too will know why the caged samurai sings.

Now let's take a look to see what you have been up to this week.  Link up below and tell us all about it.

Good luck. I'm trying to clear up some old projects as well. Thanks for the shout out on my quilt. I didn't get a chance to quilt it, but hoping to get it done this weekend. I'm having a sew day with the girls today. Yikes...better go tidy up LOL

Hooray for joining Gail in the PhD program! Looking forward to seeing your 2019 finishes. I love those puppy dogs! I also have a half-finished Doggone Cute quilt. I think I need two more pups for my pack. Happy New Year, Tish!

You've got a great list of projects for 2019. I'm playing along with Gail for the 2019 PHD challenge. I failed miserably with the 2018 challenge. I'm hoping this year is much better.

Oh man! I did Pat Sloan's "Grandma's Kitchen" quilt last year, and ended up making 6 quilts honoring my Gramma and gave them to my mom and her four sisters, plus one for me. I didn't' realize she was doing a space one. My son is an aspiring rocket scientist so I must participate again!

You've got a good line up going on there, Tish! Love those pups. I'm not sure if I'll join in the PDF or not, yet. I definitely still have UFOs to finish. I'm still organizing fabric since my renov, but finally finished the bigger pieces today. Maybe I can sew a bit tomorrow!

It feels good to use FQ's that have had time to hangout with for awhile. All your projects look good. I think the pale blue is going to look great.
