SS Playtime Plus--Finished

I have to admit this quilt has been finished for weeks now, just waiting for me to talk about it.  This is my finish for Sandra at mmm!quilts Playtime Plus QAL.  I call it the SS Playtime Plus, short for Sexy Sophisticated Playtime Plus.  Red, black and white are just timeless classic colors.

I decided to keep the quilting super simple on this one using straight lines and my walking foot.  I chose to work with Aurifil #2610 Light Blue Gray, which proved as a nice neutral to stroll across the quilt and melt into the backing fabric.

I stitched in all of the horizontal and vertical seams and then a 1/4" away from those lines.  It gave the quilt a sort of plaid texture and I love it!

This quilt will be a gift to my SIL as a house warming present as she prepares to pick up and move to another state.  I offered to ship it to her but she says she'd rather wait till I can hand deliver it.  Sounds like I might need to make some travel arrangements soon.

Unfortunately,  I missed writing this post to link up to Sandra's parade of quilts party.  Luckily, she still loves me anyway and drooled over my quilt finish with me.  Thank goodness I had posted on Instagram and didn't miss out on all the party fun!

Today I'm linking up with TGIFF and Finished or Not Friday.

Your quilt looks awesome, Tish. You can never go wrong with the B, W & R combo. I love your B&W fabric collection - especially the one with large swirls. The simple quilting brings out the pattern and the colors.

I think the straight line quilting adds to the sophisticated color palette you chose. I bet your SIL is going to love it, and hopefully you can travel to see her soon. :)

Your Playtime Plus in the red, white, black and gray tops the favorites for me. And the straight line quilting is perfect for this sophisticated version.

Quilting lines, red with the others, a super finish, and to travel, that would be the top coat. Love it there on the clothes line.

Sophisticated red, white and black and it is stunning! I like the straight line quilting, sometimes less is better.

Hi Tish! I love this color combination. Red has always been a favorite for me and it is officially Sue's favorite color. I love how you quilted it - it looks really cool on the back! I'm 100% sure your SIL will love it. It not only will brighten up her new home, but also leave her thinking of you and feeling all the love you stitched into it. Happy Saturday! ~smile~ Roseanne

love your quilt, sexy and sophisticated indeed. And just as I start to explore fmq, you my quilting guru, go back to straight line plaid quilting!!
An opportunity to hand deliver the quilt sounds like great fun for a possible weekend away! Never miss an opportunity!

This is stunning. And I happen to know that Sandra thinks very highly of you indeed, so I think there was never much risk of a little lateness being an issue. :) Your SIL is very fortunate.

I'm so happy to see the finished quilt. I love the black, white and red. Saw the fabric when you wrote about your selection and think your quilt is lovelier than I envisioned it. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.

It's such a fun quilt. The "plaid" quilting is perfect for it. Traveling to deliver it will certainly be fun!
