Attempting Some 4th Quarter Goals

I've never really been a list maker, which might explain my fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of ways. It's this little bit of my personality that drives Dave the Quilt Engineer nuts.  I do things on a wing and a prayer, but recently, I've found myself needing to be a bit more grounded and focused on some tasks that need to be completed.  So I made a list and have even crossed a few things off.  I have to say, its felt pretty good.

Ever since I've started reading blogs, I've always enjoyed reading about other's "Quarter Goals" and the follow up posts at the end of the month.  Fellow friends, you should pat yourselves on the back, you are pretty darn productive.  So you have inspired me to join in and see what I can accomplish.

Luckily (for me), only two items really have dead lines.

1.  A Hop Project For Paint Brush Studios

This little baby still needs pieced, bound and quilted.

2.  Read With Me--A book shelf quilt

I have been asked by a family member if I would make a book shelf quilt for their MIL.  I've always wanted to make the Read With Me quilt by Melissa Corry on Moda Bakeshop.  Now I have the perfect excuse to make this quilt.

3.  Mini Round Robin

I had hoped to have this one quilted by the end of September...it's basted, does that count?  It needs to be a finish before this year slips past me.

4.  Snowman Quilt

More details on this quilt very soon.  It seriously just needs quilted and just might be my weekend project.

5.  Stay up to date on the Meadow Mystery Quilt

I think that's pretty self explanatory.  I don't want to be crying in January if I'm still on October's instructions.

6.  Finish MOD Bear Paw Baby Quilt

I knew when I started this QAL with Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts, I would fall behind, but that's okay.  I'm giving  myself to the end of the year to get it finished.

7.  Piece at least six more blocks for my Moda Modern Building Block Quilt

Wow, it's been almost a year since I've worked on this one.  I just want to spend a little bit of time with it so it knows it's still loved.

8.  Finish piecing Pat Sloan's 2016 BOM My Secret Garden

Really I just have one more block and putting everything together...I can almost see the end.

9.  Quilt Psychedelic Cat Lady

It's a bit embarrassing...this one should have been quilted and gifted MONTHS ago.

10.  Charity Quilts for the Guild

Recently our guild was gifted several larges bags of fabric.  I volunteered to take two panels home to quilt for baby quilts, so that we can donated them to a local women's aid charity.

11.  Finish a UFO

I just want to finish a UFO.  This is what I call Flirty Four Square, but any of my UFO's would work.

12.  Quilt Ocean Sky

This is a quilt I pattern tested for Brianna at Iron and Needle back in January.  I have a plan, I just need to get cracking.

13.  Midnight Mystery

One of these deserves to be finished before the end of the year, right?

14.  Small Gift for a Friend

This is something I pieced a few months ago that I am hoping to give to a dear friend of mine.  Guess I can't gift it if I never finish it.

So, 14 goals in 3 months.  Things should get interesting around here...wish me luck!

Today I'm linking up with 2016 FAL and Let's Bee Social.

Dang girl! That is a lot of projects! Setting goals is always good and it does feel amazing when you can cross them off your list. I've tried lists and they work, but then I fall off the wagon and like you...fly by the seat of my pants! Focus girl...you can do it!

Wishing you all the best in getting some of these done. You have three months...start with the one that you can finish fast so you can say done and move on.

I made my own list today and had to gulp at the large number of things I need to accomplish by the end of the year. We can do it, and it is going to be a delight seeing you finish these projects. I'm especially keen to see how your quilting continues to develop with your Sweet16. :)

Great projects on your list, I'd love to see some of them as a finished article!

I'm not much of a list maker either, Tish. But it does feel good to make one and cross things off as you go! Looks like you have quite a plate full. But I just know your beautiful quilting will get a few of those finished and bound before you know it! Can't wait to see which gets quilted first!

That is a really big list, you can totally burn through all those. I am a list making freak. I make lists of my lists. It's ridiculous. But it really helps me to get things done. I look forward to reading all about your finishes!

It's nice to know that I am not the only one with so many projects in various stages. I should do a blog post about all of mine too. Maybe I will get inspired to finish something that I wouldn't otherwise. :)

I'm more a fly by the seat of my pants girl, no list here. Wishing you luck accomplishing your goals, you are going to be busy.

I've been tempted to try quarterly goals! Good luck accomplishing yours! You made me laugh when you said you just want to finish one UFO, any UFO! I finished one this summer and YES!, it felt so good! XO

I recognize many of the items here! I'm a list girl, although I do get sidetracked regularly by various squirrels...checking stuff off is seriously a high for me! I do it for personal stuff too. I could have probably 14 items on my Q4 FAL list too, but I am going to keep it as simple as possible. (she says...) Best of luck with your list!

I love your Midnight Mystery tops! Mine is also still a top; I have no idea how to quilt it, so it will stay a top for a while. I can't wait to see your bookshelf quilt! I am in a bee and had people make me bookshelf blocks, so there is a bookshelf quilt in my future, though not this quarter. Good luck with your goals!!

Hi Tish. Or list is even bigger than mine...but I only put in things I wanted to get totally done. I'm almost done September for Meadow Mist and I think I'll get the bear top done by the end of the year as well. Good luck with your goals.

I love to work on whatever strikes my fancy, but usually something is of priority & I don't need a list to remind me. Still, I make them ALL the time, then misplace them! I love finding an old one, especially if I remembered to date it, I can sit down & cross bunches off!

Good Luck with Q4 goals, it'll be a treat to see your finishes!

My goodness you've got a lot to do. Love all of these though. Don't take this wrong, but in that Mini Round Robin quilt, is the left border (in the picture) supposed to be turned that way?

Hope you meet most of your goals, and Happy Fall!

I'd be lucky to get that list done in a year, mostly because I'd get side tracked on starting new projects. Last year I set a goal of finishing one UFO per month. I did well until May when I went off the rails, however, beginning in January I will begin again with my UFO's.

Oh how exciting for you to be joining the ranks of the FALers!!! It certainly makes me more accountable and I do get more things finished (usually .... Q3 was not so good for me!!). You have some lovely projects to be working on Tish - you certainly won't get bored!

Wow, that's a list and a half. You have some lovely projects on the go, you will smash it Tish!

That's quite the list. Even if you don't "follow" the list, it's a great to have a list of what's on the go so you don't forget something.
