S.S. Playtime Plus-Quilt Top

It's finally pieced, my Super Sexy/Sophisticated Adult Playtime Plus quilt top!  I'm so in love with her.  She is everything I imagined and more.  Once I started piecing I just couldn't stop, but I made myself wait to share it with you.

I can't get enough of the fun black and gray prints that went into making her.

It was windy all day because of storms rolling in, making it a bit difficult to get a straight on picture of it.  That's okay, it's like it's being all flirty.

Now I have to decide how to quilt it.  My first knee jerk reaction was custom quilting all over!  Go crazy!  Swirls, pebbles, rulers and thread every where.  Who knows where it would go??  Then I sat myself down and had a long talk.  This quilt is actually for my sister in law, who loves plus quilts.  She actually prefers straight line quilting or more simple quilting.  This information really needs to be considered.

I feel pretty positive I've calmed myself down...took a quilty cold shower.  I'm not as hot and bothered by this quilt as I was.  I'm debating on 1/2" straight lines in one direction or playing around with both straight vertical and horizontal lines.  I've got a little bit of time before I start on it.  Maybe I'll convince David to quilt it for me?  He's becoming a straight line pro and as I recall he beat me in machine quilting...maybe that will be my argument.

What ever the case, I'm excited for this one to get quilted up and find its way to a new home.  It just occurred to me I talk about quilts like they are my foster animals.

  3. Hi Tish!
This turned out fabulously. I LOVE the color palate of red, black and white and the placement of your colors just enhances the overall piece. I am thinking I'm going to try a Baptist Fan pattern on this quilt top. Maybe.
    Happy Tuesday! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. what's black and white and red all over? A nun wrapped in newspaper with a .... oh dear, I don't think I can complete this old joke. Too politically incorrect these days, though in our childhood we thought this was hilarious. Was it really more innocent times? Or were we just unconsciously sexist, acceptable level of violence against women etc etc? Discuss.

Seriously, I love this red black and white quilt. It looks fantastic. Now I am off to link up my quilt.

  6. But quilts are like foster animals or children: we love them so much and are doing our best to find the perfect fit and home for them! :) Beautiful color palette and finish. I definitely vote that David help you quilt this one. You seem to help him out a lot... seems like a swap is in order?

  8. Ooh Ooh OOH! Still makes me all hot and bothered seeing this beauty all together in her sexy colours! I agree with Yvonne that David kind of 'owes' you?! And it's for his sister, so it'd be a great joint gift right?! Thank you so much for quilting along, and for trying the new (eye roll) Beta version of the linky, which I am going to delete this minute and re-do in the old (BETTER) version...

  9. Stunning way the colours go, you have chosen so well, and for your s-in-l? So true, a combined finish for David's sister might be the way to go. That giant red plus is superb.

  12. What is with these people who want SIMPLE quilting?? My husband is the same way. Don't they know that we show our love with stitches? More stitches = more love! Sigh. But the great thing about this pattern is that it can handle elaborate, intricate, over the top quilting OR simple "speaks softly and carries a big stick" quilting. Whichever way you go, you can't go wrong with this super sexy piece :)

  15. It's a beauty no matter how it is quilted. But perhaps you can sneak in a few background designs scattered about.
