OMG it's February already??? Is that possible?? Slow down 2016, I still need to quilt a UFO before the end of March, and mamma not ready yet. Heidi, over at Red Letter Quilts, is hosting a pretty awesome linky party...OMG (One Monthly Goal). Only one goal for the month and then we get to celebrate the finish? Yes, please. Surely I can't fail too badly at that. I know I get distracted easily, but come on. I missed the party last month, but I'm totally on board this month. So is that pesky UFO goal the winning goal for the month? Heck no! Why would I do something logical like that?? I'm a quilter for heavens sake.
Instead, since February is the month of love, I think it is time to Swoon over something. A few quilter friends of mine and I have been chatting about our quilty bucket lists and it seems most people still want to make Camille's beautiful Swoon. I'm sure you've seen it all over Pinterest. How could you not fall in love with it? Sandra (mmm quilts), asked if I would be interested in joining her in a long distance sew along. Heck yeah (who knows maybe we will even do a little face timing, thank you internet). We decided on the Mini Swoon version (you can purchase a copy here). Not long after Cindy (Stitchin At Home) and Julie (Pink Doxies) wanted to join in as well.
So now it's time to pull some fabric and get to sewing. I've also joined in with Jenn (A Quarter Inch from the Edge) in making 2016 the year of the stash. I am determined to 100% shop from my stash for this project. Since we are talking about a piece that will be 19" square, I'm pretty sure I can pull it off.
Even though I have made one small and two large projects using Bonnie and Camille's Miss Kate, I still have a ton of it left (or it feels that way). Poor Oliver looked away in disgust when he saw the state of the plastic tote; all the fabric just thrown in there, packed down.
So after longer than I'd like to admit sorting, I could finally figure out a plan.
After everything was sorted into piles, Oliver the ever helpful, took advantage of the empty box and refused to get out until I put everything back neatly. He's such a pain sometimes.
So after much mixing and matching, I decided on my color combos. The best part, everything came straight from my stash.
Starting from the top left, the red and turquoise will be backing and binding. The white on white will be the background. The other four piles will turn into the swoon blocks and corner stones. If you notice the dollar store freezer bags in the top right, Oliver insisted that the sorted piles be placed inside them for easier searching in the future. I hate when he's right.
The only thing left is to just swoon over Swoon. Have you made a Swoon quilt? Is it on your bucket list? You could always joins us. The more the merrier I always say.
Today I'm liking up with Let's Bee Social, and OMG.

I like the way Oliver helps. :) I have not made a swoon, so it is going to be fun to watch you ladies cheer each other to some lovely finishes this month!
Yes, Swoon is on my bucket list! I love the mini's best! You have been busy, scrap busting busy. You can't blame Oliver, that tote looks like a perfect place to get comfy and cozy!
Your fabric is way neater than mine! Easier to make a quilt that way. And I think Oliver is very helpful!
Oliver is so organized. Does he has a brother? I would appreciate its help. lol.
Swoon quilt is definitively on my to-do list but I need to finish UFOs first so, I will admire yours. Love the fabric you've pulled. Good luck with your goal. ;^)
I think your fabric choices are going to look scrumptious. Good thing you have Oliver to help you organize your scraps. All mine came out of my stash too. I don't know if that's good or bad.
Hey I thought you were going to use your batiks, but I think your fabric choices will make a great Swoon. I made a Swoon last year and found it to be quite enjoyable!
Sounds/looks like a good plan! I'm sure you're making something quite lovely with those fabrics!
