Top It Off-Island Batik Challenge

It's Island Batik challenge time again.  This month we were challenged with Top It Off, create a holiday themed table topper and use applique.

First part of the challenge, assess my Island Batik Ambassador stash and figure out what holiday I would tackle.  A bundle of blenders caught my eye, and I knew when paired with the solid white batik..I could make a beautiful Valentines Day runner.

Look at all those beautiful purples, pinks and turquoise!  It makes my heart go pitter patter.

OMG you all!  Fall #missingmarket on Instagram was the bomb!  What is #missingmarket?  Twice a year (fall and spring), the super amazing Kim @gogokim and Natalie @sewhungryhippie organize a photo challenge event for those of us not lucky enough to attend Quilt Market.  During the three days of market several hosts through out the day will challenge us with different photo prompts.  Post your picture, make sure you tag the hosts and use the appropriate hashtags and you can be entered into drawings for some very cool prizes.  Plus, the hashtags make it super easy to visit everyone in the quilting community to see their photos.  Its an excellent opportunity for you make lots and lots of quilty friends!

I thought it might be fun to share a post of the different photo prompts and my pictures for each challenge.

UFO Busting #79

Its been all hustle and bustle over here this fall with lots of changes coming soon.  My baby girl is getting ready to have some adventures of her own and life has been all about getting her ready for her next adventure, which should (in theory) leave me with more time for chasing UFO's.  This week was all about the applique. 

I added trees, a moon and borders to the landscape piece.  I may try to sneak quilting in after I finish up the October Island Batik project this weekend.  I don't foresee a ton of quilting on this project, just some thread painting to try to give it more life.

UFO Busting #77

This week has been a little out of this world for me...in the way of Pat Sloan's Out of This World Quilt Along Quilt.  I was hoping to have a finished quilt top to bring to the party, but that was not to be.  I do have all the blocks completed, they just need turned into a quilt top.

UFO Busting #76

Just curious, did anyone notice my mistake at last week's party?  It wasn't #78, it was really #76.  I think I was in a cloud from my pending quilt top finish...a quilter's high....that will do it to you.  So speaking of that high, I did finish piecing the September Island Batik Child's Play challenge with no time to spare.
