UFO Busting #105

Ah, 2020.  The year the calendar basically went January, February, March, May.  Returning back to full time work this week was so surreal.  It almost feels like an entire month didn't exist and in work terms, it didn't.  But it's great to be back with my work family!  I'd love to show you all the sewing that happened this week, but it's hard to sew and take pictures of it when your eyes are closed.  I think I fell asleep every evening this week as soon as I got home.  But I can show you all the quilting that happened last weekend.

I quilted away on the flying geese baby quilt.

This one has really been a joy to quilt.  I've used my straight ruler, a curved one and lots of free motion quilting.

I will be hosting the TGIFF linky party on May 22nd (make sure you stop by) and plan to reveal this one during that party.  Now it's time to focus on my lengthy do-to list from earlier this week.  Maybe all the evening power napping super charged me for a list crossing off party this weekend?

Now let's see what you were up to at last week's party.  Nancy over at Grace and Peace Quilting celebrated a quilt finish with her Pladish quilt.

I have to say this quilt gives that squirrely eye twitch that makes me want to drop everything and make this quilt!  It's scrappy and oh so fun!  And I'm quite a bit jealous of that beautiful back drop for the picture.  Make sure you stop by Nancy's and congratulate her on her finish.

Next up we have Rebecca at Cheeky Cognoscenti and her quite common dilemma...how do I quilt this???  I know I personally have a room FULL of quilts that are not finished because of this question.

Rebecca is working on this beautiful Spirit Song quilt.  Her main question is if anyone has used (and preferred method) stencils on long arms?  Hope over and become part of this discussion.  It really applies to quilting in general, whether you long arm, domestic or mid arm machine quilt.  Heck I bet the hand quilters could even have some helpful advice on this one.

Now it's your turn.  Link up below and tell us what you've been up to this week.

Oh, I can tell you about the one thing I did do this week.  Tuesday, I had to delay the evening nap to make a birthday cake for a special co-worker's birthday.

It was ooy-gooy heaven of glaze and brown sugar and cinnamon.  It's called Sock It To Me Cake.  This was a new one to me.  I'm always nervous when I bake something that I've never had before.  How do I know if it turns out correctly?  But it seemed to be a hit and disappeared quickly...so I'll take that as a win.

I bet it was hard to go back to work and then there were probably new rules in place about social distancing too in the work place that might make it hard - if You had to wear a mask that would make the day hard too I think

I can only imagine how tiring it would be to get back into a schedule and go to work. I'm glad you were kind to yourself and took some naps when you got home! The quilting you got done last weekend looks gorgeous, and I look forward to seeing more. :)

Your quilting looks great so far. Can't wait to see the finish. I totally understand the being tired at the end of the day. Good luck being back to work.

Hi Tish! Oh, I can easily imagine coming home from returning to the office and heading straight to bed. Especially if it was raining or dark or gray weather. Egads. Now the first week back is behind you so it will get much easier. {{Hugs}} May 22nd for a finish?! No problem! I am trying to get one finished today for the 15th but if it doesn't happen quite like my plan, it'll be ready for your linky party. Good to know! Sock-It-To-Me cake looks yummy! As do your flying geese with the yummy quilting. Take care and stay safe. ~smile~ Roseanne

Oh, your quilting is so yummy and you can tell you are thoroughly enjoying it! I like this kind of calorie free desert.... I agree that Nancy's quilt does make you just want to drop everything and do it. I hope you are getting back in the swing of things with work - I can't imagine. These past two months have been surreal and I am exhausted by some of the nastiness around judging "who is doing the right thing". Glad to be healthy and hopefully coming out on the other end of this sooner rather than later.

Your quilting is looking great. I like seeing how other quilters prefer to do things. I have not enjoyed using the water soluble blue pen and have started using heat erase pens instead. Which one are you using? I have not marked a quilt in awhile. I just use the rulers to guide me which doesn't always turn out as good as following a marked line.
