I hate when I wait till the last minute to get things finished but I'll take a finish no matter how it comes to me. This month my goal was to turn this pile of fabric into neat little piles of cut pieces.
Really that seems simple enough and a goal that sounds almost like cheating. Cutting fabric, such a simple thing. I managed to drag this one out all month but as of last night I can count this one as a finished.
I had to make a few decisions about fabrics, what to use and not use.
These three fabrics will be for borders and binding, so I have opted not to chop them up until they are needed.
The rest of the fabric is all ready and waiting to go. The animal panel blocks need to be 14.5" square, which included the tree bark surrounding the blocks. However, the blocks are not square at all. Why do they do that?? I'm going to suggest we trim them to 12.5" and add a brown border of something else to make them look more uniform. But I need to consult my quilting partner in crime on this one first.
Now it's time to kick back and relax for a day before picking a project for next month. A huge thanks to Patty over at Elm Street Quilts for hosting this party. So far I'm two for two this year!

Oh this will be a great quilt--I am sure he will just cherish it--I also wonder why they don't make panel blocks all the same size...I have been working with layer cakes this week and i wonder why, even in the same exact layer cake bundle, that 10" size can vary so much?? Very annoying and frustrating...but i do like the ease of using them...and that they are coordinated hugs, Julierose
Looking good!

Sometimes I wonder who plans out these panels. Congratulations on accomplishing your OMG once again!
