Island Batik---the Magic Boxes

This is the moment you have been waiting for.  A huge moment.  A box of fabric you have been anticipating for a week arrives and your mind is blown the moment you cut the tape sealing the box.  It's like Christmas, your birthday and any other present receiving holiday all wrapped up into one.  It's the moment your first shipment of fabric from the Island Batik Ambassador program arrives.  All you can do is sit and bask in the glowing light that is all those beautiful hand dyed fabrics.  Wait, what's that noise?  Is that actual angels singing?  You are paralyzed...you can't...even...anything...

Then you slap yourself back to reality, grab the camera and start snapping pictures because fabric this beautiful...must be shared! (Warning what follows is a post full of many pictures of beautiful fabrics!)

Look at all that quilting yumminess!!!

Island Batik has partnered with a few other quilting industry rock stars like Hobbs Batting.  And let me tell you, they totally out did themselves.

I cannot wait to rip open those plastic sleeves and make quilting magic happen!  I have used the Hobbs Tuscany Cotton Wool blend and love it.  So I cannot wait to give the silk blend a go was well.  There was also a baby/crib size batting sent as well, but just like kids, it wandered off to a chair and didn't make the picture.  Quilt photography isn't easy, you guys.

Another partner to Island Batik, is my personal favorite and unofficial boyfriend, Aurifil Thread.

Just look at those spools of thread!  Threads like these deserve to be wrapped in the sexy rayon scarf Island Batik sent as well.

There is one more surprise partner, but we will save them for last.  Now let's take a look at fabric.  Lot's of fabric!

This pile of Earthy goodness is part of the Batik Foundations program.  It contains yummy blenders and neutrals.  Pictured at the top is Leaf Vine in Blonde. Middle Row (L-R) Wavy Dots in Black, Dandelion in Crumb, Dandelion in Black and Wavy Dots in Cappuccino.  Bottom Row (L-R) solid black, Basics in Butternut, Basics in Mustard and Basics in Coffee.

Solid neutrals in black, white and gray.  This, my friends, is always a recipe for a good time.

Next up we have a stack of 10" squares and coordinating fabric from the 2018 Crystal Ball line.  I literally squealed when I saw these.  I have been in love with this line ever since my friend Sandra used it as part of the Island Batik Get Away Blog Hop.  You can see why I feel in love here

Next up is two packages of Island Batik Stash Builder Bundles.  Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  These small rolls contain grab bag goodness of 5" strips to be mixed and matched.  I cannot wait to pull those ribbons off and see what goodies are inside.  Who needs an oyster and pearl when you have Stash Builder Bundles??

Also thrown into the mix is a two yard cut of this wonderful rayon fabric.  I'll admit I scratched my head at first because sewing with rayon is new to me.  But with a print this gorgeous, I am dying to start now!

SUPRISE!!!!  That's it.  That's all I can show you.  Contained within these wrapped packages are fabrics that will make you drool.  It's top secret stuff.  If I showed you, then I'd have to lock you in the back room until August and that just gets messy...so we will wait.  I will be turning these lovelies into a project for later in the summer.

Next was a HUGE surprise to all the ambassadors...Island Batik has a new industry partner this year and they go by AccuQuilt.  AccuQuilt very generously sent each ambassador a Ready Set Go! cutting system to use as we create with the beautiful fabrics!

The Ready Set Go! bundle comes with the Go Fabric Cutter, the Go Cute (mix and match cutters to make endless 8" blocks), a pattern book by Eleanor Burns, die pick and the 2 1/2" (unfinished) strip die cutter.  This is perfect for starting out and can literally let the imagination run wild with block making possibilities.  I have worked with the Go Cutter before in attempts to cut my stash into manageable pieces and let me tell you, this is a game changer in block making.

I hope you've enjoyed my box reveal.  I'm still in awe at all of the beautiful fabrics, thread and fun toys contained within the boxes.  I hope you will come back later this month when I reveal my first challenge as an Island Batik Ambassador.

Don't let the mini part fool you.  It promises to be packed full of big quilting fun!

Well, goodness, I'm all excited for you. Do I have non-apply remorse? Yes. Yes I do. Haha. But seeing you in the glow of all that fabric is making it all better. I cannot wait to see what you create. You are going to leave me behind in the scrap organization now, with that snazzy Accuquilt!
