Well hello, everyone! If you are new to my little neck of the woods, I welcome you and hope you will stay a little bit.
This is my first time hosting TGIFF and thank goodness I had a finish to share with you.
I allowed this sweet little baby quilt to become a UFO. She originally started out life to be used as a class sample for teaching a class on my and David's (my quilty husband) Star Blossom Quilt at a local quilt shop.
After the class was over, her bits and pieces made their way with me to a weekend retreat at my friend Julie's (Pink Doxies) and she became a cute little quilt top.
And then her story ends, November 17, 2017. I neatly folded her up and stuffed her in the back room. How sad.
Fast forward to now. I'm trying to get a long arm my uncle purchased up and running correctly. Feeling pretty certain I had the tension issues worked out to an expectable level, I decided to jump in with both feet and work on a real quilt. So on the frames she went.
I decided on an over all edge to edge design of loops. I'm a beginner, you know. Every thing went pretty smoothly until the end. There seems to be an issue with the machine but we are working on it.
I did have some weirdness in the borders. I'm chalking it up to my first time doing this.
But for my first time trying, I'm pretty proud of it. She's not a show quilt, but hopefully she will be a loved quilt.
I just love this soft lavender background. Lots of little flowers for those butterflies on the front.
Hopefully, we will have the long arm, buzzing again soon. This quick and easy finish has me itching and begging for another one.
How about you? What finishes are you celebrating today? Link up below and tell us all about it.
Before you leave I'd like to tell you a little more about me, every Saturday I host a linky party called UFO Busting to celebrate our works in progress and finished UFO's. You'll find I'm very lenient in my definition of a unfinished object, so I hope you will come back sometime and party with us again. I also have a mystery quilt along that has just started called Fireburst Mystery Quilt.
You can find more information about it here. Thanks again for stopping by for TGIFF. I hope we will see you again soon.

Well, she looks pretty darn good to me! I'm sure it will make someone very happy! The blue border is yummy, and I agree that the backing fabric is so soft and cozy looking! Do you want a few more UFOs to practice on? I could send you a few. Hahaha! I am itching to get at some of my UFOs, but this current project is taking me far too long!
ReplyDeleteThis will make any baby and her parents happy. Baby's keep coming out of the woodwork around here so I've decided I'm going to do your mystery quilt in the baby size. I promise you I'll get my fabric together soon!
ReplyDeleteSweet finish, Tish! I think you did great on the long arm, and those loops add lots of soft, snuggly texture :)
ReplyDeleteLove the loops, and after my few minutes on a real long arm at Linda's, I know how happy you must be to finish this darling quilt. Beaut fabrics, and a real baby gift there.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a wonderful job! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteWeirdness on the border? Don't see it! Love the color combination on this sweet baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou did it, I am so proud of you Tish!! What is this weirdness you speak of?? Being too hard on yourself?? Things will get easier and smoother sailing is just around the corner. Now stick another on that frame soon!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I hope you get the issues worked out because I know you will eventually become an amazing long arm quilter!!
ReplyDeleteHi Tish,
ReplyDeleteWhat a really nice finish to your UFO and congrats on hosting today! I have never linked up on this linky before, but will do so today (I'm sorry the link isn't on my sidebar yet)! I think the quilting looks fabulous - you have to draw a circle around what's wrong for me to see it. No one else is going to look that closely - there isn't a neon arrow pointing to it, is there? This will be a well loved and enjoyed quilt, and they will feel all the love and thoughtfulness you stitched into it! ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks for hosting this week, Tish! Your quilting looks fantastic, you'd never know it was your first go on a long arm :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt design is so striking—I love it! And the snuggly backing is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. Well done. Hopefully you can figure out the last issues and then have it up and running ... Good luck! Thanks for hosting TGIFF.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can figure out whatever the machine was up to at the end. Once you get used to the machine, I really look forward to seeing what you can do!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in this Star Blossom! And I think the quilting looks great, I see no weirdness.
ReplyDeleteI feel certain she will be a loved quilt. She's darling! Your loops look great!
