Star Quilt--Finish

Here's to a quilt that was 10 years in the making.  I have no idea what the name of the pattern is.  As I recall, I think it came from a magazine?  I wanted so badly to make this quilt because I was in love with the stars in stars.

I was surprised to find two pictures from when I was piecing it.
I'm not sure what was going through my head when I decided on this very fall orange and brown leaf theme.  I believe they were a result of a trip to a Joann's Fabrics.

At the time of its piecing, a close friend of mine had a mother that just got a long arm and wanted practice.  I gladly gave her this quilt to do what ever she wanted.  She did a beautiful job quilting it. Sadly after it came home, it set for almost 10 years...completely forgotten about.

Now that it is all finished up and marked off the UFO list (yay!!) it is time to gift it to another friend.  It will look fabulous in her living room!

I'm hoping I run into this pattern again somewhere in my sewing stuff.  I've always loved the pattern and with more sewing skills under my belt, I want to quilt one of my own.

Here's to crossing a UFO off the list and a toast to many more to come!

I'm always amazed that we can fall in love with a pattern or quilt and then forget all about it - and not love it anymore - I'm sure whoever you give it to will

A star in a star is still a pretty pattern! Whoever receives this quilt is going to love it, Tish! Yay for the finish. I still have my oldest quilt top, waiting for a finish. You are encouraging me to get it out and to my long arm buddy (it's too big for me to quilt on my own).

That is a pretty pattern but it’s funny how our taste changes. I’m sure the recipient will love it and you’ll love having it crossed off your list.

Hi Tish! Great job on wrapping up this UFO. I'll bet your friend will be pleased to be the recipient of it. I enjoy stars in stars as well and this is a great pattern for that. Here's to more UFO finishes. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love the smaller blocks in the corners that mimic the center. Great pattern! I hope you can find it again. I have some of the maroonish leaf fabric! :)
