Baby Quilt Finish

I'm celebrating a quilt finish today and it feels good.  As of right now, it doesn't have a name.  This was due to be the next quilt pattern release for Wonderland, but due to some technical difficulties, that has been delayed, but we won't get into that.  It's neither here nor there.  I still want to share this fun finish.

Since the ultimate goal is for this quilt to be a for use baby quilt, I kept the quilting quite simple and went with an over all orange peel design.  Using the Handi Quilter Slice ruler, these continuous curves stitched out super quick with no marking required.

Yummy soft texture on the back.

For my quilting threads, I used 50wt Aurifil #2510 Light Lilac for the bobbin and top threads.  That soft purple added just the right touch to the quilting.  For the melon colored binding, I went with 50wt Aurifil #5002 Medium Red (it actually appeared orange-ish) in the bobbin and their Clear Monofilament thread on the top.  I chose the monofilament over a white or melon color because it blends so beautifully.  Stitching in the ditch and staying on track can be hard.  With this clear thread I could drive as recklessly as I wanted, well with in reason.

I even remembered to attached my label...that doesn't happen often.

It feels good to slowly get back into my quilting groove again.  Hopefully, a few more finishes in the not to far off future.  I do promise we will start busting UFO's again.  My energy level just hasn't been up to a whole lot of blog reading as of lately.  Stay tune, I am getting my grove back.

Lovely colours and design, a quilt that will grow with the baby, and the quilting, on the back those curves that meet, fantastic.

Best wishes on rejuvenating your sew-jo. I think you're off to a beautiful start! All it takes is a finish or two to get your groove back on. : )

I like how some details point in toward the center and others point out. It's a bright and fun baby quilt that looks like it will be perfect for cuddling with. :)

Such soft, pretty colors in this quilt, Tish! It's a very fun pattern, whether it be for a baby or for a wallhanging, or larger. Glad you are slowly getting your mojo back.

Every body needs a break once in awhile! And you....you’ve been such a quilting machine for so long, amazing us all. This finish is sweet. I especially like the picture on the swing. Using the orange peel motif was perfect! I have to go back and look again! I never would have thought to do that. Have a good week! XO

I love this quilt and the quilting you did. The rulers are really fun for some of these things - I have yet to do an all over but you have inspired me.

A very pretty finish! I love the big blocks and as always your quilting! I've been wondering about the clear thread and how it handles when quilting. It sounds like you didn't have any issues sewing with it. How does it feel on the quilt?

Hi friend! This is a really great finish. I love the colors you chose, and I also enjoy the orange peel quilting design. That is what I'm using on that pixel heart - the grid is already there for me, so it's just begging for that design. Hmm, clear thread. Just curious if you have had issues using it? I've heard other people have had issues so I've stayed away from it. Happy Wednesday! ~smile~ Roseanne

I love that this quilt doesn't scream 'baby' but still looks like a baby quilt. Does that make sense? The colors are lovely, and I really like how you quilted it Tish. Congrats on another finish for 2018! This one is going to make a sweet baby very happy. :)

Great quilt! It looks modern and classic at the same time. The colours contrast beautifully, and the design is striking. Good luck with the pattern production.

Really glad you are back. And I love the quilt. Perfect for a baby, but not babyish, so will be great for many years as the baby grows. Brilliant! :)
