She's a good girl, loves her Sandra
Loves quilt alongs, and being caught up too
She's a good girl crazy 'bout kittens
Loves puppies and quilty Dave too
And I'm free, Freefalling!
Yeah I'm free, Freefalling!
Okay, so maybe those are not the words to the song but I just had to and I'll warn you now, the quilt along isn't over and me doing that probably isn't either.
Today, I'm just quickly checking in and linking up with Sandra's Freefall QAL over at mmm!quilts. The linky party is open all week and we are all anxiously awaiting the next set of instructions on Monday. Never to late to join in the fun, obviously there is good music along with it :)
WARNING: This next section of post may contain graphic and violent material for those of the quilting faint of heart. Viewer discretion is advised. Especially if your name is Dave the Quilt Engineer.
As I am working through my QAL's I am also feverishly quilting my and David's quilts for our upcoming pattern release. Since am almost finished quilting his baby quilt version and my neighbors (my mom) left their garage door open when they left, I quietly borrowed their garage and tables to baste my quilt.
His quilt lay neatly folded with the backing facing up (Thank God!) on my HQ Sweet Sixteen. When I returned from my basting adventure (I was in and out like a ninja) I discovered one of the cats had thrown up on his quilt! OH THE HORROR!!!!!
Jen, being the best daughter ever, cleaned the mess up for me, since I was frozen in a mixture of panic, anger, fear, sadness and a few other emotions that haven't yet been identified. Sadly, what was left was a yellowish stain.
After I came out of my frozen state and re-animated, I did the only thing I could do...Shout. I shouted at the cats, I shouted at the sky. Then I realized there might be more proactive shouting to be done. I grabbed the bottle of stain remover and generously applied it to the spot....and walked away.
I am happy to report when I checked on it this morning, it does look like the stain has lightened quite a bit. I plan on finishing this up ASAP tonight so I can pop it in the wash. Did I mention how happy I am it's the back of the quilt and not the front?
That's it for me, back to getting projects finished up. Hope everyone is having a great quilting week.
SHOUT!!! LOL, when I texted you that suggestion, I never thought you'd work it into a post, let alone confessing to the horror of BSOQ (that's quilty lingo/acronym for Bile Stain On Quilt)!! LOVE your leaves; they are SO Spring-like! I am sure that it will come out, and let's just say that we think no we know it was probably Dave's cat who barfed on his quilt, right?!
ReplyDeleteShout, shout, let it all out... these are the things I can do without... come on... More lyrics for you! The blocks look great. I plan to finish mine up today (fingers crossed). And I am so glad the stain is on the back of the quilt. I hope it comes out completely in the wash!
ReplyDeleteOh oh naughty cat, which ever one! What is it with cats and quilts anyway. Could kitty not have found another spot. Sheesh. Good luck getting the quilt clean. I am looking forward to the reveal of the pattern. =)
ReplyDeleteI swear it is the colouring in the biscuits or food that makes those stains so hard to totally remove,, yes experience speaks volumes, but down here, luckily it is usually on a floor rug, or occasionally the carpet. Hope it all washes out,Have you tried the old fashioned way with dish-wash liquid as well? Lovely leaves, they are all so lovely on the background. Now we wait for the next session, can I hear another few lines of the tune coming up??
ReplyDeleteOh no! I sure hope that stain comes out. Of course the backing had to be light colored. Maybe the cat just wanted to mark the quilt as his own because he loves it so much? I can't wait for your pattern release. :)
ReplyDeleteShout as loud as you need! I would soak it in Dawn dish soap and then launder it as you normally would.
ReplyDeleteWow, your blocks are looking goooood! Love your verse and I probably won't be able to get that song out of my head the remainder of the night. Yes, kitties will do that! And three kitties (at my daughter's) do it three times as much. Such is life. Glad you were able to get most of the stain out. I thought I heard someone hollering, all the way up here. That was you? XO
ReplyDeleteI finished my block tonight. Feels good to be on track. Never mind about being behind in other QAL's. ha ha ha Sorry to hear about the quilt. Hopefully, the last of the stain will come out. Good luck with quilting.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I feel your frustration. But like you said it is the back of the quilt-so something to be grateful for. Love your leaves!
ReplyDeleteHahaha!!! I loved your song rewrite. Your leaves are looking great!
ReplyDeleteWe got this stuff at the pet shop like urine off and it breaks down pet stains - maybe something like that would help?
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty leaves.
ReplyDeleteI hope the stain came out. Thank goodness it was the backing, though.
I started to say I love your song, and then I read the rest of the post!!!! Oh no! I hope the rest of it comes out in the wash!
